The electric motor rotor core is who reinforces the electromagnetic field that is generated by the rotor windings. The electric motor rotor core is formed in layers, laminations, which are steel plates that are tuned to the electric motor rotor shaft.
The laminations have slots so that it is allowed that the rotor windings fit securely around the core.
The electric motor rotor windings are solid bars that are either made of aluminum or copper and are short circuited by closing the rotor rings comprising the electric motor. These bars are cast in the slots that are within the electric motor rotor core and thus form a cage.
The electromagnetic field that integrates within the electric motor with the electromagnetic field is generated by the stator windings of the electric motor and only so is the mechanical energy is produced.
